Policy Comparison

Policy Comparison lives at /{your_org_name}/compare. It compares two active policies and shows where structured fields are the same or different.

Requirements

Requirement	Reason
Both documents are active	Covara compares extracted structured data, not queued files.
Both documents have the same policy type	The comparison fields must come from the same schema.
The user can access both documents	Comparisons stay inside the selected team account.

Same type only

Covara blocks comparisons across different policy types. For example, a General Liability policy cannot be compared with a Cyber Liability policy.

Run A Comparison

Open Policy Comparison

Choose Policy Comparison in the sidebar, or choose Compare from a document row action.

Pick the first policy

If you started from a document action, Covara can preselect the first document.

Pick the second policy

Choose another active policy of the same type.

Click Compare Documents

Covara generates a structured comparison grouped by report category and subsection.

Export if needed

Use Actions to export PDF, export CSV, or prepare an email.

Comparison rows show the first policy value, the second policy value, and whether the field is the same or different. Use the result to find renewal changes, coverage gaps, limit differences, and terms that need broker or counsel review.

PDF export is best for sharing a finished comparison with stakeholders.

CSV export is best when the team wants to filter, sort, or annotate differences in a spreadsheet.

Send via Email opens an email draft with the comparison context.
